The Yost Ice Arena sits on State Street where Mckinley Avenue ends. There are two roads that enter the campus on either side of it providing access to the Ray Fisher Stadium, the Indoor Track Building and the Wilpon Complex Alumni Field. If you are planning to attend the University of Michigan or are joining the ever growing faculty and will be using any of these buildings frequently, then the closest housing options are in the area west of Burns Park.

There are many homes available in this area, including rentals, condos and homes for sale. This area is primarily a quiet residential area with small businesses, churches and stores peppered throughout. Packard Street provides a diagonal main road from the southeast all the way to the north west for commuting across town. These are older homes and condominiums that are typically moderate in size and price. The homes in this area offer mature trees, close proximity to Burns Park Elementary School and Burns Park. The further east you travel from the campus toward Burns Park the less student housing is available and the areas north and east of Burns Park tend to be high end luxury homes. This is perfect for many incoming faculty at the University of Michigan, but typically unsuitable housing for the on the go college student.
