Comic Relief in Canton
By Steve Wickland on August 23rd, 2009My husband LOVES his comic books, in fact he has been heard to say, “These comic books are our children’s educational fund.” I seriously doubt though he will EVER part with them though, I suppose they are one of the few things from his bachelor days he has held onto. Let me tell you too, there are BOXES stored at our Ypsilanti Township home!
So when I heard about the comic book and cartoon exhibit at the Village Theatre in Canton called “Michigan Comics: Mirth, Mockery, Mayhem” I looked the other way… Or at least I pulled my husband the other way – That would be like taking a kid into a candy store for sure!
It does sound like a nice exhibit though, and the Village Theatre in Canton is surely an excellent showcase for such artwork. If you, or anyone in your family would be interested, the exhibit is running now through August 30. This unique exhibit showcases the diverse talents of 40 Michigan artists and features over 100 pieces of original artwork comprised of editorial cartoons, gag panels, comic strips, comic books, graphic novels and other works on paper.
To see this great collection of Michigan cartoonists, the exhibit gallery will be open to the public for free viewings Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. until August 30.
