One of the many perks of living in this great city of Ann Arbor, are the multitude of cultural events such as the A2So. “A Grand Affair”- the title of Ann Arbor Symphony’s final season concert Saturday evening at the Michigan Theatre- captures the ambition of the program the orchestra presented under Music Director Arie Lipsky, to ring out its 80th year. It was a grand turnout for the final performance with the audience anticipating something magical and they were not to be disappointed. Sounds of Shostakovich and Mahler filled the grand old Michigan Theatre. Lipsky was brilliant as he led the orchestra throughout the evening. The A2SO has dubbed next season”A Season of Celebration” and the way Saturdays performance went-we certainly don’t want to wait until next year.
