Legal Services of South Central Michigan, through its’ Michigan Poverty Law Program, has launched the Michigan Foreclosure Prevention Program. The program is a partnership with legal aid offices throughout Michigan as well as housing counselors throughout Michigan and the National Consumer Law Center. The program has already been accepting referrals and providing assistance. “The most pressing problem facing the consumer is the home foreclosure crisis,” said Lorray Brown, lead attorney of the Michigan Foreclosure Prevention Program. In 2008, there were approximately 12,000 new foreclosure filings each month in Michigan, according to data from Realty Trac.

If you think you’re in danger of falling behind on your payments or are already behind, this program may be able to help you. Go to the Michigan forclosure website for more information.
